Car Seat Safety Check: This is a free service offered by the city of Boston. It is by appointment only so make sure you give yourself ample time to have your car seat installed.
Garden Moms: Great online resource to meet other moms, find nannies, buy/sell used baby items or look for/give advice
Isis: Located in the Prudential Mall (and other suburban locations) This is a retailer that offers parenting and baby classes as well as a store to purchase gear. Note: they are pricey and you will get the items for less on Amazon. If you are going to take a few classes or purchase gear it is worth buying the membership as it gives you a discount.
Tadpole: Located on Clarendon just one block off of Columbus Ave. this local baby store in the South End has most of what you need in a pinch without having to get in the car. They have a large selection of strollers, they will even let you “test drive” them! They also sell furniture and toys for children of all ages. Locally owned and run – they give you points toward your purchases and know you and your baby by name. The staff is amazing, they go above and beyond – if they don’t have what you are looking for or if you have a problem or question about an item – they will find an answer/solution. Also if you are expecting this is a great place to register – they have in store pick-up so you can save your friends and family money on shipping, and you don’t need to be home for delivery.
Amazon Mom: Great deals on everything available on Amazon, not just baby stuff– free expedited shipping and you don’t have to leave your house.
BuyBuyBaby – this store is located in Braintree right off the highway. Bed Bath & Beyond 20% coupons work here for most items except diapers. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Magic Beans: Baby store in the Prudential Mall. Outside of making an appointment with the city to have your car seat checked – which can take a few weeks to get an appointment (in Mattapan). They have a certified car seat installer on staff.
Peapod by Stop & Shop: Grocery delivery. This service will save you both time and stress. They offer great deals and accept coupons just like at the store. You can shop from your computer and/or smart phone. Delivery is on your terms. You pick the time and they carry the groceries right into your kitchen.
